On August 16th, 1977, it was announced to the world that
Elvis Presley died.
The newspapers published glimpses of Elvis laid to
rest in his coffin. Several years after Elvis' passing, there was great
controversy of whether Elvis was really dead.
Bill Bixby, an actor who knew and worked with Elvis, hosted the very
popular "Elvis Files" on network television. However, not long after the
program aired, people came forth and laid the "Elvis may be alive"
theory to rest.
These people were very close to Elvis, and were part of Elvis' inner
circle of family and friends. The census was Elvis was dead.
For the next 20 plus years, the whole idea of Elvis being alive or not
was settled. Moreover, it was determined that Elvis was indeed "dead."
However, in the last few years growing controversy has raised a
challenge to what was previously settled and agreed upon. Elvis might
not be dead. Indeed, he may be alive, living somewhere in the U.S. if
not in another part of the world.
It has been documented that Elvis did not travel much out of the country
when he toured and other than his stint in Germany while in the army,
and a few places in Canada, Elvis did not leave the country. For this
reason, he probably would not be hiding in another country at this time.
Indeed, he would probably be hiding somewhere in the United States.
In the last few years, very credible people have come forth to address
and challenge the fact that Elvis is dead. Several people from Elvis'
inner circle have made claims that suggest Elvis might not be dead.
In
fact, Adam Muskiewicz, a director and filmmaker, has created a film that
addresses this subject. Mr. Muskiewicz interviewed many people in his
film and no doubt will reveal some shocking information. The film is due
to be released sometime later this year.
Elvis' popularity has not suffered at all since his 'supposed' death. In
fact, it could be said that Elvis is even more popular now with all of
the tribute artists working hard at keeping his memory alive.
The business of paying tribute to Elvis has never been better. There are
thousands of Elvis tribute artists, otherwise known as Elvis
impersonators, in the U.S., and all over the world.
In fact, there are so many that it would be impossible to name them all
here. However it is possible to name the better ones. The American
Directory of Elvis Tribute Artists does exactly that.
The directory
indexes the better Elvis impersonators and compiles information about
them for you to view. Information is given for you to attend one of
their live performances, or even contact them for private engagements.
William Riopelle, a former Elvis tribute artist, worked in Las Vegas in
the show Legends In Concert, and was managed by Elvis' best man at his
wedding. William has written an interesting book about Elvis.
It's a fictional story about a young man who impersonates Elvis Presley.
The boy moves to Memphis, Tennessee, and meets many people who knew and
worked with Elvis. The young man is trying to find singing jobs in
Memphis. Along the way, he buys a chest of drawers from a second hand store
that ends up containing a personal journal of Elvis Presley, hidden
away. You can also listen to some of the songs recorded by William by
