Songwriter Paul Terry King is the cowriter of such hits
such as Love In The First Degree, sung by Alabama, and Idabel, sung by
Elvis. Paul Terry King is now auctioning his interest in the only known
available song titled, If I'd Only Bowed Her Roses. According to Mr.
King, he and Elvis Presley both wrote If I Only Bowed Her Roses, along
with another song, titled Rollin' Up Hill.
The winner of the eBay auction will have controlling interest in the
supposed cowritten song by Elvis Presley. Both songs are registered in
the Copyright and Patent's Office of the United States.
According to Paul Terry King, he and Elvis cowrote the songs in 1973 and
Elvis sang it privately. It is the last claimed song written by Elvis
and King prior to Elvis' death that remains unpublished and unreleased.
Paul Terry King claims that Elvis visited him in Nashville to write
other songs, as well. He states that he and Elvis had many conversations
about world politics, current events, religion, children, marriage and
love, and several other subjects.

On December 16, 2004, show business wheeler and dealer Robert Sillerman
agreed to pay $100 million to Lisa Marie Presley for an 85% controlling
stake in Elvis Presley Enterprises. This deal gives Sillerman the rights
to use Presley's name and likeness, as well as the royalties from Elvis'
music, films and TV specials. He is aggressively marketing the Elvis
Brand worldwide presently.
However, Sillerman's acquisition of the Presley holdings, did not
encompass these last songs. Moreover, Sillerman apparently let the songs
slipped through the cracks and now, only retains a minority interest in
the songs.
Paul Terry King holds the majority interest, and is free to do what he
pleases with the songs. This opportunity will never be available to the
public again.
Devoted fans, entrepreneurs, entertainers, or anyone with huge amounts
of money, can now bid on the songs and copyright, as well as the
performance rights of this prized possession of Elvis Presley.
Ebay has been monitoring bids on the auction and is reporting on public
response and what will become of the songs. A demo
version of Rollin' Up Hill has been recorded by artist, William
Riopelle, for Paul-Terry King. The
Elvis Song
Auction can be viewed by anyone with an interest. |
