December of 2006, I was e-mailed by Paul Terry King and
asked to sing a demo song for him. The song was titled Rollin' Up Hill.
Apparently this is one of the two songs that Elvis Presley cowrote with
Paul Terry King, back in the 1970s.
The other song of the two being titled, If I'd Only Bought Her Roses.
Paul Terry King is a songwriter who has written many songs for famous
artists in the music industry. You can read more about the story of him,
Elvis Presley, and the lawsuits involved with these songs at
Graceland All Shook Up Over New Elvis Song.
Paul Terry King e-mailed me the two songs and asked me if I would sing
the songs on my computer and return my versions to him. Since I don't
play the guitar well, I sang the songs without music on my laptop
computer.
I quickly recorded Rollin' Up Hill and If I'd Only Bought Her Roses, in
the same month. Paul Terry King included my version of Rollin' Up Hill
at his web site
Apparently, there is much controversy over the songs of whether or not
Elvis Presley really cowrote them, or was involved with Paul Terry King.
Obviously, if Elvis was involved in writing the songs, they would be of
great value to the world.
I don't know who to believe regarding this story. After researching Paul
Terry King and his work, there is no denying that he has been involved
in writing many famous songs. However, the fact still remains that
several of Elvis insiders claim that Elvis did not know Paul Terry King.
Paul Terry King claims that Elvis visited him in the 1970s, and spent
hours with him writing songs and conversing with him about family and
world events. He claims that he was at American Recording Studio, when
Elvis recorded Suspicious Minds.
In fact, he states that he used the restroom and when he flushed the
commode, something was wrong with the plumbing, and they could hear it
in the sound room. He says that someone told him that Elvis got a kick
out of and laughed.
I'm just stating these details because details are what helps to make a
story credible. Anyway, if you care to hear my version of Rollin' Up
Hill, you can hear it at
