As Billy drifted off to sleep his mind raced at the
day's events. What should he do about the journal? Would anyone believe
him? Should anyone believe him? Should he tell anyone? Or should he just
throw the journal in the dumpster, separate himself from this whole
mess, and forget about what he discovered?
The boy was pretty exhausted and was falling asleep fast. As he fell
asleep, he opened and closed his eyes several times, slowly, as he
typically did while falling asleep; gazing tranquilly at the room,
followed by viewing the nothingness of his eyes being closed.
He opened and closed his eyes several times, gazing at
the room, then nothing. Then, one of the times he closed his eyes, he
seemed to be able to view the room as if he were looking through
somewhat foggy glass.
This was not very strange and Billy thought nothing of it, as he
experienced many strange episodes, many pleasant, while in a half
dreamlike state, while falling asleep. However, this was different.
Something was different.
Even though Billy was falling asleep fast, and his body
was completely relaxed, his mind seemed oddly alert. While in this state
of mind, he decided to perform a simple experiment.
Billy was aware that the birds chirping outside his window had a nest
located in a remote position above his window pane. He knew this because
as he previously prepared to sleep in the early morning hours, he could
hear the birds coming and going, singing, chirping, and communicating
with each other right outside his window.
Many times these noisy birds kept him awake, as did some
of his neighbors leaving for work during that early part of the day.
However, Billy found the sounds of people leaving for work in the
morning very pleasant, as he hated the thought of having to leave for
work that early in the morning, and any opportunity he had to sleep
during that time felt extremely good.
Moreover, the hedonistic side of himself took great
enjoyment in the fact that he was able to rest, as other people were
forced to wake up and do something they hated. It all just seemed to
make his warm covers and rest all that much sweeter. Every story must go
off on a tangent every once and a while.
Back to the experiment.
As the birds chirped, sang, interacted with each other, and came and
went to and from their nest above his window, Billy could see the
shadows and reflections of the birds through the crack of the window
coverings. Normally, this neither bothered, nor interested him. He was
simply aware of it.
But this particular morning, he decided to open his eyes
again and view the window out of his peripheral vision and watch the
shadows of the birds come and go, like normal. He followed this by
closing his eyes to focus on the same area of the window to view the
birds continue to come and go, as when his eyes were open. He knew he
was not imagining this, because many of the sounds corresponded to the
movement of the shadows, including some light sounds of the wings
hitting the glass.
He was able to view this with his eyes open, and with
his eyes closed. He viewed the activities of the birds several times
with his eyes open, followed by the same activities with his eyes
closed. One of the times, two birds interacted with each other and made
a thumping noise, while chirping, on the glass.
Billy actually viewed this while his eyes were closed.
As far from normal as this seemed at the time, Billy was tired and just
made a mental note of it while drifting off to sleep.
Upon awakening, Billy grabbed a Notebook and pen, and noted the time of
the morning this happened, as well as the day and date. Billy jumped in
the shower and got dressed in preparation of his plans for the day. He
was planning on going to an Elvis Museum, located across the street from
Graceland. He knew one of the owners and the employees that worked
there. In fact, one of the employees name was Richard Davis, a former
bodyguard and stunt double of Elvis in a few of his movies.
He was a close friend of Elvis in the sixties and
seventies. A clear picture of Richard Davis can be imagined. In the
Elvis movie, That's The Way It Is, there's a part where Elvis is
rehearsing onstage at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. The only people in the
audience was Elvis' entourage. In one of the scenes, Elvis is goofing
off onstage and shown lifting up a microphone stand and pretending to
hurl it into the audience as a harpoon while yelling out, "Moby Dick!"
The guy that raises his arms as if he were taking cover was Richard
Davis.
He's the one who responds with the most emphasis. He's
also clearly drinking and smoking. In the present day, he could be
easily identified by his extremely prominent "comb-over" hair style.
Billy had developed a friendship with the owner of the Museum and
Richard Davis. |
