Elvis Presley is one of the most loved American
entertainers there ever was. His popularity and number of fans seem to
only be growing.
When you think about it, Elvis Presley seems to be the only entertainer
that is gone, but still grows in popularity. Usually, "out of sight, out
of mind" is the rule.
Elvis has always been the exception to the rule.
Other American icons, such as, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis
Jr., Perry Como, (I could go on and on...) were dynamic, wonderful
performers.
However, even though they will be remembered for their
music, they have lost something that all people lose upon passing.
Again, Elvis Presley was different. This is where he is shockingly
unique.
Not only is Elvis still loved and remembered by all of his fans, his
popularity seems to be growing. Due to the fact that he's dead but still
growing in popularity, he is an enigma to many.
Call it what you will. Brilliant marketing and business tactics by Elvis
Presley Enterprises, or something else. However, the reason that Elvis
Presley's popularity continues to increase every year, is, well, he's
Elvis Presley.
Elvis will always be remembered by the world as a legendary, dynamic
performer who had a generous heart.
Perhaps this is why so many people want to be like him. In fact, the
number of Elvis impersonators seem to keep growing in proportion with
Elvis' popularity.
Although most of the Elvis impersonators used to seem to have a 'stigma'
attached with their title, there are a growing number of damn good Elvis
impersonators out there.
These performers sound good and look like Elvis Presley.
Hats off to all of you keeping Elvis' name alive.
